21st City Council Special Election

Julissa Ferreras, former Monserrate Chief of staff as well as Chairwoman of a non-profit that received $250,000 of slush funds from her office, won the special election to fill her boss's seat. Monserrate became the State Senator last November, and has had a scandal involving alleged beating his girlfriend with a drinking glass @ 3AM then driving her past several hospitals bringing her to LIJ hospital near the Nassau border. There was a dearth of talent on the ballot but in my humble opinion the worst candidate won.

DAVE DOOMS SELF TO LOSE VS. ANDY - New York Post

DAVE DOOMS SELF TO LOSE VS. ANDY - New York Post

I befuddled why Governor Paterson chose a conservative Upstate Congresswoman who brings very little to the state wide ticket in 2010, when every other corner of New York State Democratic establishment would have preferred Cuomo or Kennedy or even Maloney. Cuomo will probably run against Paterson and leave the winner weakened cofers empty to run against the fascist Giuliani. There is also strong possiblity that Gillibrand will not survive the Democratic primary allowing Congressman Peter King to become the next Senator.

Even if Paterson and Gillibrand win their respective election they won't be driving a huge mess of Democratic votes to the polls and its possible the Republicans could retake the State Senate. Even if there is not one seat lost to Republicans, Kruger, Diaz, and Espada could flip if they perceive weakness.

Monserrate Still at Precinct, Smith Has No Comment

Monserrate Still at Precinct, Smith Has No Comment

Not only does this guy weasel $400,000 from city council slush fund, hit a tow truck driver with his car on primary day in 2001 (which gets buried under the historic attacks that also happened that day), but he just got arrested for hitting a 30-year old woman early this morning and is sitting in the precinct house.

Monserrate is a thug, and we could not have a less honorable representative that will likely get re-elected to Albany. It is likely we will catch this wannabe gang banger slinging crack rock, and shooting dice in the alley by the end of the year.

Bloomberg: Council Made the 'Right Choice' on My Plan | The New York Observer

Bloomberg: Council Made the 'Right Choice' on My Plan | The New York Observer

29 Yeas
22 Nays

Absolute shame that 29 city councilman overturned the voice of the voter. Bloomberg will probably win re-election, but there will be higher than usual losses of incumbents (there might be 2 to 3 compared to the usual zero).
